How to make Over the Top Oreos

Intro:

Over the Top Oreos are not for the faint of heart. These unapologetically indulgent treats start with a Nutella-stuffed Oreo, get deep-fried twice in pancake batter, injected with peanut butter and caramel, wrapped in crispy bacon, and finished with a glossy candy-style glaze and a dusting of confectioners’ sugar. Sweet, salty, crispy, gooey, and wildly excessive, this dessert is pure fair-food fantasy taken to the extreme—one bite is all it takes to understand the name.

Ingredients

  • 4 Oreo cookies
  • Nutella (about 4 teaspoons total)
  • Smooth peanut butter (for injecting, ~4 teaspoons)
  • Soft caramel sauce (for injecting, ~4 teaspoons)
  • 6–8 strips cooked crispy bacon
  • Pancake batter (thick, about 1½–2 cups total)
  • Oil for deep frying (vegetable or canola)
  • Granulated sugar (for candy-style glaze)
  • Water (for candy-style glaze)
  • Confectioners’ (powdered) sugar, for dusting

Directions

  1. Prepare the Oreos
Spread Nutella on top of each Oreo or sandwich a small amount inside. Place on a tray and freeze for 30–45 minutes, until firm.
  2. Heat the Oil
Heat oil in a deep pot or fryer to 350–375°F (175–190°C).
  3. First Batter & Fry
Dip each frozen Oreo into pancake batter, fully coating it.
Fry for 2–3 minutes, turning once, until golden brown.
Remove and drain on paper towels.
  4. Inject Peanut Butter
Let the Oreos cool for 1–2 minutes. Inject warm, smooth peanut butter into the center using a piping bag or injector.
  5. Wrap with Bacon
Wrap each Oreo with 1–2 strips of crispy bacon, pressing gently so it holds.
  6. Second Batter & Fry
Dip the bacon-wrapped Oreos into a slightly thicker pancake batter.
Fry again at 350°F for 2–3 minutes, until deeply golden and crisp.
    Drain well.
  7. Inject Caramel
While still warm, inject soft caramel into the center alongside the peanut butter.
  8. Candy-Style Glaze
In a small saucepan, heat granulated sugar and water until dissolved and slightly thickened into a pourable candy glaze.
    Drizzle over each Oreo.
  9. Final Finish
While the glaze is still tacky, dust lightly with confectioners’ sugar.
  10. Serve Immediately
Enjoy warm for maximum gooey, crunchy, over-the-top indulgence.

Chef’s Tip

Work in stages and don’t rush the process. If the Oreos start getting too soft at any point, return them to the freezer for 10–15 minutes before continuing. This keeps the fillings sealed, the batter intact, and prevents blowouts during frying. Serve immediately—Over the Top Oreos are at their absolute best when hot, gooey, and unapologetically excessive.
